With onset of festive season, the Railway authority has stepped up security measures at important stations under Raipur division. It is also leaving no stones unturned for ensuring safe journey for passengers by deploying sufficient number of security personnel in running trains.

In a view of rush in trains and Railway stations during ongoing and forthcoming festivals, the Railways has geared up for checking crimes as well as taking necessary steps to thwart any untoward incident, said Public Relation Officer (PRO) of South East Central Railway (SECR), Raipur Division Ratan Basak.

As a pre-emptive measure, frisking at Railway stations under the division and trains passing through have been intensified, said Basak, elaborating that adequate number of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and sniffer dogs have been pressed into duty.

Similarly, Railways is making sufficient security arrangements for safety of passengers in long route trains, added Basak

Concerned Railway officials are frequently conducting surprise checking in trains passing through the division to check unauthorized entry of people in coaches kept reserved for women and disabled, Basak said.

Basak further informed that in the interest of passengers, particularly women, the Railways has introduced helpline number (18002332534 and 9572490777) and promptly acting on complaints being received through the helpline.

According to Basak, with the objective to check drugging cases, Railways is carrying out extensive campaign and creating awareness among people by putting posters/banners in trains and in premise of railway stations.

Besides, awareness about drugging cases is also being made through passenger announcement system. Aiming to check suspected movement at the Railway stations, concerned officials are keeping close vigil at Railway stations through surveillance cameras. Moreover, security personnel in civil dress have been deployed for keeping close eye on movement of suspects and miscreants.

Calling upon people not to purchase any items from unauthorized vendors, Basak said Railways is making requisite efforts to check activities of unauthorized vendors.
