All the sectors of Kamal Vihar scheme facing ring roads should be developed fully on a priority basis, Public Works Department, Housing and Environment Minister Rajesh Munat directed officials after inspecting the scheme on Sunday.

He asked the officials to  prepare the design of square to be constructed on Kamal Vihar-Fundahar-Raipur-New Dhamtari road soon so that tenders for its construction may be floated out before next Thursday.  The minister told officials to finish the construction of entry gate in Kamal Vihar in one month’s time.

“Kamal Vihar is one of the ambitious projects of State Government. It is necessary to complete works of this project in time bound programme and if there are some hindrances in completing works, officers could directly inform me so that it could be sorted out,” he said. He said that for catering to the daily needs of people living in the sectors, small shops could be constructed along with facility centers at bus terminals.

Munat also stressed over construction of big squares in the project and asked to prepare plans in this connection. The Minister instructed the construction agency larsen & Toubro limited to complete works in all sectors before July 2015. lauding role of officers in developing the project, he said it was not easy to win public confidence on city development scheme. However, officers at the Raipur Development Authority have made it possible. For preventing illegal construction in area around Kamal Vihar development, work should be carried out according to master plan, he said.

It may be recalled that the construction of houses have begun in Kamal Vihar, the much-awaited and ambitious scheme of Raipur Development Authority (RDA). The very first house of Kamal Vihar is being constructed in its Sector-1 in the scheme, RDA officials had informed.

According to officials, construction over plot purchased by Sonali Bhattacharya and Ashish Bhattacharya has started. After completing formalities from RDA they had got loan sanctioned from Central Bank of India.

An employee of Public Works Department (PWD) Ashish Bhattacharya had purchased 1700 sq feet land here in 1998. However, there was no proper arrangement of power, water supply and drainage system. After the formation of the State in year 2000, several people purchased plot here without proper documents.

Since the colony at that time was illegal they could not have easy access to basic amenities such as drinking water, power supply, drainage and similar. Understanding the problem of large number of people living here, the  Kamal Vihar Town Development Scheme was launched in 2008, RDA officials said.

They further informed that Kamal Vihar is one of the biggest town development schemes of India with its total area of about 1600 acres. The scheme has about 7,000 plots. Currently for generating funds for the project,  RDA is selling 1100 residential plots along with about 100 commercial and other plots. Not only people from Chhattisgarh but NRIs based in different countries have evinced interest in the scheme and have purchased plots here.
