SECR Raipur division starts energy conservation drive

Published on:

The Raipur division of South East Central Railway (SECR) is going all out for an energy conservation project with the objective to bring in major cost cuts in power consumption at all its facilities.

The Raipur division had already started opting for solar energy based power sources as well as other energy efficient products used at its facilities, officials stated.

Under this move, the division has already installed 65kwp solar power plant at Raipur railway station and DRM complex.

Similarly, the authority has equipped running room and ORH with 8600 lPD solar water heater and nine level-crossing gates have been electrified by solar powered systems.

As per information received, Raipur railway station (class A-1) has been provided with façade lED light, as many as seven 225 HP (100000 GPH) VT pump have been replaced with new 215 HP energy efficient (high discharge capacity 200000 GPH) pumps at the division’s pump house for promoting energy consumption as well as reducing pumping hours.

Moreover, the division has managed to replace as many as 16 (250watt) MH fitting in eight level-crossing gate lamps (under its jurisdiction) with 40watt outdoor lED light, around 101 street lights (of 250W MH) in WRS colony, Railway Engineering Colony/R&BMY Colony have been replaced with 36W lED fittings and 170 tube lights (of 40W) at Passenger Reservation System (PRS)/R & and engineering colony institute have been replaced with 20W lED tube lights.

255 conventional energy meters and 300 old conventional energy meters have been replaced with electronic regulator in staff quarters and other. On the same series of move, concerned railway authority has removed 885 unauthorized electrical connection to reduce load and promote energy saving.
