The South East Central Railway (SECR) has asked the passengers who have already booked/bought the journey tickets, either to deposit the balance amount (between the rail ticket and revised fare) with the Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) or at the special counters erected in the Chief TC Office at Raipur or Durg Railway station to get the receipt in view of the 14.2 per cent hike in the passenger fares.
The increased fare will be effective from June 25, a SECR press release issued here on Monday stated. The passengers are requested to keep the balance amount with them during the journey to avoid any inconvenience.
Under this facility, the monthly pass holders can also submit the balance amount to the aforesaid railway officer/counters. Apart from the hike in rail passenger fare, the Railways has increased 6.5 per cent hike in freight rates, effecting from this Wednesday, it stated. Similarly, the Railway has also made arrangements to recover the balance amount on freight rates. Notably, the last fare hike was in October 2013.
