The Chhattisgarh government has extended restrictions imposed in all districts under Section 144 of CrPC, which bars the assembly of four or more persons in a place, for the next three months in a bid to control the spread of Covid-19.

The two-month restrictions banning the gatherings of people were going to end on May 19. The government issued the fresh direction after getting suggestions from all District Collectors.

“As per reports submitted by Collectors of all 28 districts, the situation is yet to be brought under complete control and there is still a possibility of the coronavirus infection spreading in several places," an order from the Home Department said.

"Therefore, in view of the present circumstances, it is inevitable to extend the period of Section 144 for the next three months to contain the transmission of Covid-19," it added.

Similarly, following the guidelines of the Union Home Ministry, the Chhattisgarh government has also decided that restaurants, hotel bars and clubs will remain shut in the state till May 31. Sports complexes and stadiums will continue to be closed till further orders.

A total of 25 new coronavirus patients were detected in the state on Sunday.

While there are 33 active cases in the state, 59 people have been discharged after recovery.
