Scribes ill-treated near Taj Gateway; boycott PC

Published on:

local media persons on Sunday boycotted a news conference called by Sony Entertainment Television (SET) at Taj Gateway hotel after facing misbehaviour at the hands of both the police constables on duty as well as the Taj security personnel deployed at the barriers created to keep away fans of mega star Amitabh Bachchan from entering the hotel premises.

The news conference was not related to the shooting of the Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) show in Raipur but for a television serial .

The mediapersons were stopped first near the Magneto Mall at a barrier by the police where the person deployed by Taj Gateway Hotel to check names of journalists invited did not find half of the names entered in the list. The police constables on the other hand rudely kept telling the journalists to keep themselves out of the way. After mediapersons whose names were not found in the list protested, the organisers allowed entry to the Taj Gateway premises only to be stopped again on the way at the second entry barrier where the media persons again complained of not being allowed entry to the Sony Entertainment Television executives.

It was then decided by the media persons collectively that they would boycott the press conference. The Sony Entertainment Television executives did offer an apology later citing reasons of the inconvenience caused as mega star Amitabh Bachchan was about to leave for the KBC show from the hotel.

However, it was decided by the media persons to collectively boycott the press conference and condemn the shabby treatment meted out to them by the security at the entry points created on way to the hotel gate.
