A large number of Gobripat Model School students on Monday staged a demonstration before the Collectorate here in support of their demands. The children were demanding food and hostel facility in the school as they said that have to travel 60-70 kilometers every day to attend the school and to return home.
Collector Siddharth Komal Singh Pardeshi, after listening to their problems, assured the them that he would consider their demand after taking up the matter with the officials on priority basis.
The students said that they do not have hostel facility nor do they get food in the school. Moreover, they have to travel 60-70 kilometers every day by train or bus to attend the school and back to home.
On many occasions they have missed the train and bus, due to which they remained absent from classes affecting their study. Most of the students are tribals and from poor families and cannot afford to purchase train or bus tickets regularly.
They said that they want to study in the school but gaining education has become a very tough job for them in the existing conditions.
