The students of Demar Government Girls Middle School, with the support of their parents, villagers, Sarpanch and panchs started an indefinite agitation against the merger of their school with a Boys Government School, under the rationalisation move of the State Government.

The agitating girls raised slogans against merger of their school and refused to study in the Boy’s school.

According to the students, despite having over 150 students in classes 6th, 7th and 8th, the school is being closed down. They have turned down the appeal of In-charge Head Master Prabhat Kumar Sinha to join classes.

On the other hand, parents say that they already have submitted a memorandum to the School Education Minister, Kedar Kashyap, Block Education Officer and District Education Officer Rakesh Pandey, requesting them not to close down the Girl’s school.
