School girls imparted self-defence training

Women safety is a major topic of discussion and a cause of concern these days all over the country. To address the issue, Kartavya, the CSR club of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur joined hands with the City Police Department to organise a self-defence programme for girl students at Mujhgan School in Raipur.

The three-day programme from December 7 to 9 was intended to create awareness among school girls. Around 100 girl students from class 6 to class 8 eagerly participated in this programme so that they can learn to face any situation in future that might be a threat to their safety.

Kiran Mahadeek (1934 Women Self Defense Training Department, Police lines, Raipur) trained the students of the school and educatedthem on various aspects of self defence.

The students were given situation-based self-defense training with not only the techniques for physically tackling threats to safety but also as to how to identify and avoid potentially unsafe circumstances.

Important helpline numbers and some of the basic first aid techniques were also shared with the students so that they can provide assistance when needed.
