Eye specialist Dr Dinesh Mishra advised people to save their eyes and other sensitive organs while celebrating the festival of colours.
He said that earlier the festival Holi had been celebrated with the colours prepared with natural things like flowers, leaves, roots and seeds, which were not harmful for the body. Now-a-days, artificial colours like Gulal are prepared by chemical substances, which leave its ill-effects on the organs of human body like skin, eyelids and eyes. Dr Mishra said that if colour goes into the eyes, one should not rub it, but should try to take it out carefully. It should be kept in mind that the use of cow-dung, coal, ash, paint, grease and the like could be injurious to the body. He said that he would be available for the free consultation and treatment of eyes at his Phulchowk situated hospital on March 17 from 11am to 1 pm.
