Sitting BJP MP from Raipur lok Sabha constituency Ramesh Bais on Thursday said that the Congress decision to field MlA and party heavyweight Satyanarayan Sharma for the seat would not make any difference to his electoral prospects.
“The Congress party's earlier choice of Chhaya Verma and now deciding to field Satyanarayan Sharma for the Raipur lok Sabha seat pose no challenge for me”, he told The Pioneer when contacted. The six-time BJP MP Bais who belongs to powerful OBC community, has not been officially declared the BJP candidate for Raipur seat for the 2014 polls but his name for the seat has been put in a single panel and party sources claim that announcement of his candidature is just a mere formality.
“There is no one in the Congress party who can challenge me in the Raipur lok Sabha seat,” Bais said. On the issues to be raised by him during the polls if fielded again by the party for the Raipur lok Sabha seat, Bais commented : “The issues such as corruption and price rise during the UPA rule would be raised by me.” The good governance offered during the tenure of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during the NDA rule would also be reminded by me to the people, Bais said.
