The Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) National Mahila Morcha president Saroj Pandey on Saturday urged the party’s women workers here to take a pledge to make Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister of the country.
Terming the recently concluded Assembly elections as semi-final in which the BJP achieved success, she said the party needs to perform much better in the lok Sabha election, the final electoral battle to achieve its goal. Addressing the Executive Committee meeting of the State Unit of the Women’s Wing in the premises of the BJP State headquarters ‘Ekatm Parisar’ in Raipur, Pandey said it was a significant achievement that the BJP had been voted to power in the State for the straight third term.
The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government had failed on all fronts and people were looking at the BJP because they knew that it was a party of patriotic people. We need to fulfil their aspiration, she said. She urged the female party's workers and office bearers to dress themselves with saffron and green sarees and wear coloured bangles that symbolise the party during campaigning because they symbolize our religion and culture.
She also advised women workers to apply ‘Mehndi’ on each other’s palm and then go around their areas and apply Mehndi on other women because such campaign yielded positive results in Rajasthan. She said the way the Congress suffered a jolt in the assembly election, the party workers need to ensure that BJP wins all the 11 seats in the State.
Highlighting the problems the country was facing, she attacked the UPA Government for corruption, inflation and price rise and said the Congress has also compromised India’s external security. In her welcome speech, State unit president of Mahila Morcha Sobha Soni said people voted the BJP despite adverse situation in Chhattisgarh. People came to the voting centres in large number and exercised their franchise despite threat from Maoists. Several newly elected legislators, senior leaders and block and district level office bearers of the party also attended the meeting.
