Rajnandgaon Member of Parliament Santosh Pandey has been made the Bharatiya Janata Party’s chief of membership drive in Chhattisgarh.
He will be assisted by Kiran Dev as co-chief.
Both the leaders have been called to New Delhi on Monday to participate in the party central meeting on the drive.
Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Sanjay Shrivastava said that BJP will organise membership drive from July 6, the birthday of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in the state. It will be followed by the organisational election of the party.
The programmes will be conducted based on the dates provided by party central leadership. The event will be held for one month and the membership drive will be conducted through missed call and also through slips. The target is to increase the membership by 20% more than the previous drive.
Discussion was held during the working committee meeting of the state held on Sunday on different aspects of the membership drive.
Shrivastava said the party members also held talk on holding a protest against the power failures in the state but the date has not yet been finalised. The BJP has been vocal against regular power cuts in the state and also the recent incident of filing of sedition case and then withdrawal of it against those speaking on the power failure on social media.
