State Congress Woman’s Wing President Phoolodevi Netam has charged that the situation of women in the State is pitiable while on the other hand the children are facing the problem of malnutrition.

Addressing a press conference here, Netam said that the State stands fifth in the cases of women harassment cases registered .

More than 17,000 women are missing in the State due to human trafficking, she said.

The State government has no interest in finding out about these girls and women, she charged.

The Sakhi-one stop centre has also failed to stop atrocities against women, Netam said.

In most of the cases of crime against woman, it is due to man in an inebriated condition and therefore liquor prohibition must be implemented in State, she demanded.

Malnutrition and child mortality levels in Bastar and Surguja region is alarming, she said.
