A three-day Astro Shala event began at the Swami Atmanand English Medium School (SAGES) in Bhilai Sector 6 in Chhattisgarh where the students witnessed moon and Jupiter through a reflective telescope with a 110X zooming capacity.
The students witnessed galaxies -- a dream come true for them.
The children were introduced to the worlds beyond the earth through the astronomy lab.
The lab started with a star-gazing event on Tuesday as students tried to understand astronomy with the help of a tubular reflecting telescope.
The children were enthralled to find the moon and Jupiter right in front of their eyes.
The coordinator of the Chhattisgarh Amateur Astronomy Club, Rajesh Lohiya, briefed them about astronomical components and events related to them.
He also shared information about how, in the olden times, people used the Pole star at night and the sun during the day as direction indicators.
The children also learnt about the Sky View Android Application through which they can gain information about astronomical objects by pointing the mobile anywhere in the sky.
