As the closing of financial year inches closer, the number of people coming to the Registry Office has swelled up to 150 per day. Earlier, the incoming number of people in the office was a mere 50-60.
Rates for registration on property go up in the beginning of every financial year. People prefer to register their properties by the end of March so that they do not have to do it on new and increased rates. The residents of the city are coming to Registry Office to register their plots, shops and houses. Officials say that every year in the month of March people swarm the office so that it is not pending for the next financial year.
Rates of property are constantly rising in the state capital causing the registry cost to go up too. This is why people related to buying or selling of properties are coming to the office in large numbers. The count is expected to go further up after the festival of Holi.
“Every year, the number of people coming for registration of property swell in March,” said District Registrar RS Armo.
