Opposing the Government’s plan to bring an ordinance to free political parties from the Right to Information Act (RTI), president of RTI Sangh Anil Agrawal, in a press statement issued here on Sunday, said that those who live and foster with the support of people should come within the ambit of RTI.
Agrawal said every citizen at his level should oppose the Government’s move by holding dharna, demonstration, rallies and other democratic way of protest. He said that people sitting in the Government, to escape from their responsibility, were trying to free the political parties from the RTI Act, but the common and dedicated workers of different political parties wanted that the Act should be implemented in the political parties also.
In fact, he said, established leaders of political parties wanted to free political parties from the ambit of RTI through bringing the ordinance on the basis of majority, so that their party workers should not seek any account or information from them.
Appeal to citizens: Anil Agrawal has appealed to every citizen to register his/her protest against the Government move to bring ordinance to free political parties from the RTI, by distributing pamphlets, holding dharnas, protests and hunger strikes.
If the Indian citizens remain silent and expect revolution by others, the country would never forgive them. To save the nation and the democracy it is necessary that the 150 crore people of the nation should come on the road to register their protest against the Government move, he added.
He said, like the protest registered by the people of the country against the Delhi rape incident, the people should oppose the ‘black law’ (ordinance) across the country.
