Rs41.64 crore drought relief for affected farmers

Published on:

Around 64,000 drought-affected farmers will receive compensation amount of Rs41.64 crore under the Revenue Book Circular 6-4.

This information was given by State Women and Child Development Minister Ramsheela Sahu who also happens to be Gariaband District In-Charge during a press conference here on Monday.

Notably, the State Government has decided to replace the boiled egg distribution with banana in the Mid-Day Meal served to the Government school students. The weekly milk distribution will be continued as part of Malnutrition Eradication Programme.

Sahu told the reporters that the farmers are unable to avail benefits of various Government schemes due to the lack of coordination between Agriculture and Energy Departments.

Citing an example, she referred to the permission taken by the Agriculture Department from the Energy Department for digging tube wells which is overlooked. As a result, farmers face problems in getting a power connection for the functioning of the tube wells.
