loans amounting to Rs 1.88 cr have been given away to 372 women self help groups (SHGs) in the ‘Bank linkage Programme’ organised by Ma Bambleshwari Janhitkarini Samiti at Krishi Upaj Mandi, Chowki here.
In the programme, sponsored by NABARD, Chhattisgarh State Rural Bank, Dena Bank and District Cooperative Central Bank distributed the loan to the women SHGs.
Padmashri Phulvasan Yadav, Collector Ashok Agrawal, General Manager NABARD PJ Ranjit, Deputy General Manager Reserve Bank of India Venu Gopal, Regional Manager, Chhattisgarh State Rural Bank SK Sarkar, regional deputy manager Dena Bank, District Cooperative Central Bank’s Assistant CEO Prabhat Mishra, lead Bank Officer DK Tiwari and DDM NABARD AS Thakur were present on the occasion.
Addressing the function, Padmashri Phulvasan Yadav said that the Ma Bambleshwari Janhitkarini Samiti, with the assistance of Chhattisgarh State Rural Bank, Dena Bank and District Cooperative Central Bank, formed 2,800 women self help groups and provided loan to 1,500 groups.He expressed gratitude towards the banks for bank linkage for empowering the women self help groups.Encouraging the women SHGs, Collector Ashok Agrawal said that women should go forward focussing their attention on the three objectives – cleanliness, education and goodness - of the Ma Bambleshwari Janhitkarini Samiti.
He asked the women groups to come forward to free villages from defecation in the open by constructing toilets in each house.As education has significant contribution in the overall development of family and society, the Collector called upon the women groups to participate in the School Admission Campaign and help in sending children of the age group of 6 to 14 years to schools. The government provides free uniform, textbooks and midday meals in the schools.
Giving emphasis on the financial empowerment of women self-help groups, the collector asked the women to make right utilisation of the amount received from banks and move forward.
