Following ruling of Chhattisgarh High Court that the Vice Chancellor of Hidayatullah National law University (HNlU), Sukhpal Singh had illegally extended his tenure and subsequent cancellation of his appointment by Chhattisgarh Governor Anandiben Patel, Principal Secretary, law Department, R.S. Sharma has been appointed In-charge Vice Chancellor of the university.
While assuming office as In-charge VC, Sharma had to face the ire of students of the university who were on strike since past couple of days.
The In-charge VC met a delegation of agitating students on Wednesday evening and tried to pacify them while assuring to sympathetically listen to their demands. According to information, he succeeded in convincing the students to attend the classes from Thursday.
Notably, the girl students of the university are demanding ouster of Hostel Warden alleging disparity compared to boys hostel timings to come back during night hours.
They are also dissatisfied with the timings of library hours and are demanding to extend the timings.
With intervention of newly appointed VC In-charge, the students though convinced to attend the classes from Thursday have not given up their demands and have decided to continue protest till their demands are fulfilled.
