Khamtarai police on Thursday morning raided a private yard located in Bhanpuri area and arrested 10 people indulged in gambling. About Rs 65,000 in cash were also seized from their possession, police informed.
According to the police, repeated complaints about gambling and other anti-social activities was reported in Bhanpuri area. The police patrolling party in the wee hours of Thursday about 4.30am raided Chourasia yard in Bhanpuri where the accused were indulged in gambling. Police found cash Rs 65,000 and playing cards from their possession. “The accused were booked under Section 13 of the Gambling Act. later, they were released on bail,” informed Khamtarai police officials.
Notably, in view of the State Assembly election, police has been directed to initiate strong action against criminal and crime related activities.
