Raipur Municipal Corporation’s somersault against illegal hoardings and posters continued unabated even as public representatives gave virtually free hand to civic body officials to remove speedily the haphazard unauthorised advertisement materials defacing the city’s skyline.
Cutting across the party line Mayor in Council members as well as Raipur Municipal Corporation officials were unanimous in the marathon meeting of MIC held on Friday on removing unauthorised advertisement hoardings and billboards put up at public places as well as on private houses/ properties.
According to civic body officials, nearly 3 thousand hoardings have been put up illegally on roadsides as well as on private houses within the old Raipur areas. These haphazardly put up hoardings are not only choking the city skyline but also eating up in to the revenue of the Corporation, they allege.
The MIC meeting also asked the civic officials to effectively clamp the Anti Public Property Defacement Act in the city to prevent such unauthorised hoardings to come up in future.
They also urged private building owners to remove such advertisement materials put up atop their houses immediately or else the corporation will take action against them.
Notably, the Corporation officials have launched a drive for the last couple of days to remove these hoardings which also included those put up atop private buildings.
