Raipur Municipal Corporation will inspect all buildings within its limits to ascertain the status of rainwater harvesting system installation as part of its water conservation and groundwater recharging efforts.
Urban administration and development minister Dr Shiv Dahariya had recently directed the municipal bodies to promote the rainwater harvesting technique in urban areas.
RMC Commissioner Shiv Anant Tayal stated that directives have been issued to all eight zone Commissioners under civic body limits for inspection of the buildings.
As per the directive all the buildings should be checked for status of rainwater harvesting and ensure installation of the system wherever it is not yet introduced.
Similarly, in buildings where the system has been installed, it should be seen whether it is functioning or not.
Each zone has been asked to submit report on its findings. All private schools, hospitals, commercial buildings, colonies and industrial units will be checked.
Commissioner has also directed to commence the tender process for installing the rainwater harvesting system. The progress will be reviewed on Friday (May 31), he said.
