With a view to ease traffic in core areas of the city, the Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Tuesday removed illegal structures from a road connecting Vishwakarma Chowk to Ramsagar Para main road via Badhai Para.
Following the directives issued by RMC Commissioner Asheesh Kumar Sharan, the anti-encroachment squad demolished illegal portions of as many as 40 structures constructed beyond the permissible limit.
The drive was aimed to widen the existing 15 ft road to 30 ft to ease traffic on this stretch of core area. After widening this stretch, traffic load at Ramsagar Para is expected to lessen now.
RMC pressed JCB machines along with a team of local police to avert any untoward incident during the drive.
