Intensifying its drive, Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Wednesday took action against six business establishments who were using their parking lots for commercial purpose. The owners of the establishments have been instructed to step up arrangements of parking facilities for the public.
On the third day of the drive, a team of RMC inspected Zone–5 and took action against business establishments who were using their parking lots for commercial purpose. An education institute in Zone -8 was sealed for using its parking lot for commercial purpose.
Inadequate parking space in the city has become the cause of inconvenience for both commuters and traffic police. Because of scarcity of parking lots, people park their vehicles on the road hindering smooth movement of traffic.
“large part of problems related to parking could be solved if the assigned parking lots are used for the purpose instead of using it for commercial benefit, said RMC Commissioner Awanish Kumar Sharan. He said that the civic body will deal with such offenders strictly and act on any information of tip-off coming from the residents of the city.
Two business establishments were sealed in Zone–3 by the RMC for not using the allotted space for parking. A team involving policemen, labourers and security guards were led by Zone Commissioners to crack down on the defaulters.
Vandana Autos on GE Road was sealed for using its parking lot as storage area, Hotel City Plus on the same road was sealed for renting out the space. Maruti Business Park also faced actionfrom RMC.
