The Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Friday dismantled portions of a three-storey building constructed against the approved map on Mahadev Ghat Road in the city.
The operation was carried out in compliance of the order of the Bilaspur High Court, a RMC press release here stated.
Senior RMC officers led the operation in presence of heavy police force. The team equipped with hammers and other tools started the operation in the morning and it took an entire day to dismantle the illegal structure on the third floor of the building.
Police force of DD Nagar Police Station, Amanaka Police Station, Traffic Police, IMC officer Abhash Mishra and other senior officers led the operation. A number of people had gathered at the spot to see the operation.
The High Court in its order dated April 29, 2014 had directed to dismantle the portion of the building constructed against the approved map.
The owner of the building had allegedly not taken permission for construction in the basement of the building. However, he constructed a commercial warehouse in the basement, the press release stated.
On the ground floor, the owner had got permission for construction of a steeled parking in 241 square feet area and 33 feet staircase. But he constructed a 1400 square feet furniture shop illegally. On the first floor a 386 square feet shop was approved but he constructed 1848 square feet commercial hall. On the second floor the owner had constructed 1848 square feet commercial hall for office against the approved map of a residential construction in 386 square feet area, it stated.
On the third floor, the owner had no permission for any construction, yet he had covered the area and erected seven feet high column for construction.
A notice was served to him on July 4, 2012 followed by a number of notices by RMC. The final notice was issued to him in August 2012 but he still continued with the construction. The owners of the building even filed a case in session court challenging the notice issued by RMC. Court dismissed his plea on February 15, 2014, the press release stated.
Thereafter a complaint was filed by citizen Rakesh Singh Bais against the illegal construction in Bilaspur High Court. On April 29, 2014, High Court ordered RMC to remove the illegal construction.
In compliance of the order of the High Court, RMC Commissioner Awanish Kumar Sharan issued order for demolition of illegal construction on May 29, 2014, the press release stated.
