Rising crime against women a concern: Vishnudeo

Published on:

Voicing concern over incidents of molestation against girls and women and other crimes in Chhattisgarh, state BJP president Vishnudeo Sai said on Monday that it is most unfortunate that two incidents of gang rape of minors were reported in as many days.

One of the crimes took place in Raipur and the other at Kawardha.

In a statement, Sai demanded the rapes should be viewed seriously and stern action be initiated against the accused.

He said the tragic incidents are heart breaking and they are creating a sense of terror among the citizens.

Pulling up the Congress, Sai said the party has been raising the issue of rapes in other states but is silent on similar incidents within Chhattisgarh.

In the last 23 months, the state's law and order has been deteriorating, he said.

The need of hour is to take strong steps to stem such incidents. The victims should be provided due assistance by the                   administration, he said.
