Ring Road shootout case to be probed thoroughly: DGP

Chhattisgarh Director General of Police (DGP) Ramniwas on Tuesday claimed that the sensational Ring Road shootout case in Raipur would be probed thoroughly as per law and offenders can't go scot free. The DGP told The Pioneer on Tuesday that he had no idea about media reports regarding Home Minister Nankiram Kanwar reportedly raising his reservations over Bijapur Deputy Collector Chandudas Verma  submitting an affidavit in the Ring Road shootout case instead of surrendering himself in the court. “I have not gone through media reports so would not be in a position to comment,” he stated. However, Ramniwas said that the Home Minister did talk to him regarding the case. “I will get the case inquired as per the law,” the DGP said. Verma was on the run after the shootout and reportedly submitted affidavit instead of surrendering in the court. The Deputy Collector reportedly stated in the affidavit that one of Home Minister's associates Sushil Agrawal allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 5 lakh for stopping his transfer from Janjgir-Champa to Bijapur.
