Preparations have begun to update electoral rolls in a total of 14 local bodies and Municipal Corporations in Chhattisgarh. The Chhattisgarh State Election Commission has announced that updating of Electoral lists/Revision of voters’ lists will be done in two-phases. The State Election Commission in an order mentioned that Municipal Corporation Bhilai, Nagar Palika parishad Jamul, Nagarpalika Parishad Bhilai-Charoda (Durg district), Nagar Panchayat Maro ( District Bemetara), Nagar Pallika Parishad Khairagarh( District Rajnandgaon), Nagarpalika Nigam Bheergaon (District Raipur), Nagar palika Parishad Baikuntpur and Nagar palika Parishad Shivpurcharcha ( District Korea), Nagar Panchayat Konta (District Sukma ), Nagar Panchayat Bhairamgarh and Nagar Panchayat Bhopalpattanam (District Bijapur ), Nagar Panchayat Visrampuri (District Kondagaon), Nagar Panchayat Narharpur (District North Bastar-Kanker) and Nagar Panchayat Premnagar (District Surajpur), will go to polls.
The elections will be held for the posts of Mayors, Chairpersons and Corporators. According to scheduled programme the Electoral rolls will be updated as of January 1, 2015 (Base date to update rolls). The Registration/Assistant Registration officers should be appointed before June 15, 2015. The preliminary electoral rolls will be prepared by July 30, 2015. The final voters’ list will be published by September 14, 2015. It may be mentioned that voters’ list will have photos affixed this time around.
