A revenue official was arrested for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs5,000 in Chhattisgarh's Janjgir-Champa district, Anti-Corruption Bureau said on Sunday. Patwari Chandrakumar Tiwari, posted at village Birra under Champa tehsil, was caught red-handed on Saturday while accepting bribe from the complainant, laxmi Prasad Kashyap, for transferring ownership of his property, an ACB official told PTI.

Kashyap, a resident of Birra village, had a few days back sold a piece of land at his native place to a person for which he approached Tiwari seeking to transfer the ownership of that property and prepare some related documents. Tiwari allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs5,000 for the work, following which the complainant approached the ACB which laid a trap and caught the accused, he said. A case under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 has been registered against him, the official added.
