Revealing travel history & health check-up must before entering C’garh

Published on:

Every person entering Chhattisgarh will have to disclose his travel history and also undergo medical examination, officials said here on Friday.

The decision was taken considering the possibility of the movement of a large number of stranded persons, particularly labourers, through Chhattisgarh in the near future while moving to their home states.

“People entering Chhattisgarh without informing authorities or those violating quarantine protocol will have to face strict punitive action,” a government press release stated.

“Coronavirus infection is a serious global challenge and for controlling it we will have to be strictly vigilant and practice effective administrative control. Those violating directives of the government will have to face action under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 51 to 60 of Disaster Management Act 2005,” Chief Secretary R.P. Mandal said.

According to the Chief Secretary, the Union Home Ministry has issued directives to permit people caught by the lockdown in different states to move to their home states.

Accordingly, the Chhattisgarh general administration department has issued directives to permit people coming from other states and to quarantine them if required.

The administration will move the workers from the entry point in Chhattisgarh to the entry point of their state. But they will have to provide information about their travel history and get health check-up done. Persons not cooperating will face strict action, Mandal said.

“Individuals coming from other state may carry coronavirus that could transmit to the local population. Avoiding quarantine will make it difficult to control the virus,” he said.
