The retirement age for the State Government employees in Chhattisgarh will remain unchanged, Chief Minister’s principal secretary N Baijendra Kumar said on Saturday.
Earlier it was speculated that the retirement age for State Government employees would be reduced by two years. Presently, the retirement age of the Government employees is 62. Rejecting such speculation, N Baijendra Kumar said the Government does not have any plan to reduce the retirement age. The State has not sought any advisory from the central government in this regard as well.
“It (retirement age of state employees) is completely a state subject. Different states have set the different age limit for their employees. In Kerala, the retirement age for employees are 55 years which has been increased to 56 recently,’’ he said, adding, “similarly in Madhya Pradesh it is 60 years and the government has increased it by two years recently’’.
Interestingly employee union leaders were under impression that the government is considering to reduce the retirement age for the state government employees by two years. Even, the Unions had also started protest against it.
