The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday asked the Chhattisgarh government to resolve the issues faced by Assistant Police Constables (APCs) in Bastar region quickly, warning that a failure will pose a crisis in the Naxalite-infested area.
BJP Rajya Sabha member Ram Vichar Netam told the media that the depositing of weapons by the APCs was a serious matter.
He said the BJP government after a Supreme Court order in 2011 seeking the axing of Special Police Officers recruited them under special conditions as APCs.
He said that in 2018 they had for the first time raised several demands and Congress leaders promised to resolve their issues within a month of forming a government.
Instead of resolving the issues, the state government has adopted a delaying tactic of forming a high-power committee to look into the demands.
The BJP demanded that the government should resolve the issues at the earliest.
