Skeletal remains of a man who was buried allegedly by his wife in the backyard of his house at Khamhardih locality about a year back were exhumed on Thursday, police said.
“According to the deceased’s wife, the man identified as Rajbindar Singh- a driver by profession- was suffering from some disease and had died last year in the month of September,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Raipur Dr Sanjeev Shukla said.
The remains have been sent for postmortem and we would be able to tell the exact reason of death after getting the report, he added.
Meanwhile, police also found out that Rajbindar’s wife Manpreet Kaur had buried him with help of one of his friends Rama Yadav.
“We had received a complaint from the deceased’s brother that Manpreet Kaur had buried Rajbindar’s body in the backyard of their house after which the body was exhumed,” Station House Officer (SHO) Pandri Rajendra Singh Rajput said.
What makes this incident suspicious is that why was Rajbindar’s death kept as a secret and even his brother was also not informed, the SHO pointed out while adding that a case was registered in this regard and investigations were going on.
