The Chhattisgarh government on Sunday warned people not to drop their guard during the upcoming festival season and to strictly follow the Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.
The state has been reporting a lower number of positive cases but the virus has not totally gone away, the Health Department warned.
Dr Subash Mishra, Director (Epidemic), told the media that with the improvement in Covid situation, people should not stop wearing masks, washing hands regularly and keeping physical distance.
With major festivals set to start, everyone should remain alert as the disease can spread again and take the form of a pandemic, he warned.
Latest data show that in 13 districts no new cases were reported. Mishra said of the 27,302 samples tested, 27 persons were found Covid-19 positive.
The positivity rate in Chhattisgarh is 0.10 percent.
Apart from the 13 districts with no new cases, 8 districts (Rajnandgaon, Baloda, Raipur, Baloda Bazar, Janjgir-Champa, Mungeli, Surajpur and Kanker) reported one each case. Durg, Raigarh and Jashpur recorded two cases each.
Korba, Dantewada and Sukma registered three positive cases each while Bilaspur had four patients. Only one death was reported due to comorbidity, Mishra said.
Mishra said the total first dose of the anti-Covid vaccine has been given to 1,34,42,554 people and both doses to 50,09,759 citizens. The state has an adequate number of vaccines of around 6 lakh doses.
