Raipur district Advisory Committee on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act (PCPNDT) during a meeting on Thursday cancelled the license of 44 sonography centres for not complying rules. Meanwhile, the meeting gave clearance for nine new registrations and approved four applications for renewal. The meeting was held at the office of Chief Medical and Health Officer and was chaired by nodal officer and deputy collector Poonam Sharma. CMHO Dr K.R. Sonwani, pediatrician Dr S.K. Sinha, and social workers participated in the meeting. The meeting decided to expedite the inspection of sonography centres and to take stern action against those found violating the Act. Discussion was held for spreading the message that fetus sex determination is banned. It’s decided that the message will be spread through multiplex and theatres by playing the video and putting up instructions in Chhattisgarhi language.
