The recruitment process for the post of Jail guards is in the final stage and the appointment letters would be issued to the selected candidates as soon as verification of certificates is completed and police verification report is submitted, officials stated.

It is expected that the candidates will get the appointment letter before Diwali, they stated. The selected candidates will have to undergo two phase training including one at Raipur and another at Jagdalpur. Both the trainings will take at least 29 days. During the training the candidates will be educated about correctional service along with Jail manual, human rights and law. They will also get training for operation of arms. The local candidates will get the benefit of serving in different jails of Bastar as there are very low chances of transfer out of Bastar, sources said.

The recruitment process for jail guards was delayed due to intermittent polls. But it has gained momentum in recent days and is in the final stages. The candidates who have cleared written and physical examinations will now have to submit their certificates for verification. On the basis of the certificates, the police will complete the verification process in their respective districts.

The verification report will be issued by the Superintendent of Police of the respective district. According to sources, as many as 60 candidates have submitted their certificates and affidavits in the central jail. In other jails the recruitment process was supposed to be completed by 2013 but it has not been completed even after nine months in the present year. Sources said that three weeks time is left for the process.

“The recruitment process is in the final stage. The appointment letters will be issued after verification of documents and thereafter the candidates will be sent for training,” said Superintendant of Central Jail, Rajendra Kumar Gaekwad.
