Raipur Development Authority (RDA) would construct a Football stadium and commercial complex would be constructed in Hind Sporting Ground lakhe Nagar, informed chairman RDA Sunil Soni in a press conference on Monday.
He informed that drawing and designing work for the project has also been started. Earlier in a meeting of board of directors detail discussion was done in this connection. RDA has undertaken the work as per directives of Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh. Earlier, there was confusion that who would undertake the construction work, RDA or Raipur Municipal Corporation. However now it has been decided that RDA will build the stadium.
Soni told reporters that the ground is spread in an area of 4 acres and Hind Sporting has been conducting football competition for past several decades. Considering the fact that there was no good football ground in Raipur, the project was quickly sanctioned.
He further said that the construction of ground would be done in such a way that it would generate good amount of money for Hind Sporting that could be utilised for grooming of football talent in city and State. Hostels would be also constructed in the ground for football players, informed RDA chairman.
