The 44 lakh beneficiaries holding blue colour ration card will get ration at the rate of 7 kg per unit per month from April 1. The State Government has done regularisation of the eligibility for ration under the Chhattisgarh Food Security and Nutrition Act 2012. However, no changes have been done in eligibility for ration to the Antodaya families, officials said on Tuesday.

Officers of Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Protection Department said that the Mantralya has issued guidelines and notification in this regard. They said that the regularisation was done after considering the suggestions received time to time from people’s representatives and Panchayat representatives.

The regularisation will benefit 1.67 crore members of families holding blue ration cards. No changes have been made in eligibility of 16 lakh Antodaya card holding families. These Antodaya families will get 35 kg ration per month at the rate of Rs1 per kg.

As per the changes, the families having blue colour ration card will get 35 kg ration till five members. Families with more than five members will get ration at the rate of 7 kg per unit. If the number of family members is six then 42 kg of ration will be given and if the number is 7 then 49 kg and if 10 then 70 kg of ration will be provided to the family per month. For families with less than five members, the ration will be provided at the rate of 7 kg per unit.

Officials said that regularisation was done following decision taken by the Cabinet in its recent meeting chaired by the Chief Minister Raman Singh.  The APl families (general families) will become ineligible for getting ration from April 2015.
