In a shocking incident, a case of rape and personation has been registered against a scientist of Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) with the Civil lines Police station here on Sunday evening. The accused scientist had married a woman of Raipur keeping her in dark about his earlier marriage, said Raipur Superintendent of Police OP Pal.
Talking with The Pioneer Pal said “a woman of Raipur has lodged a case against Tapas Kumar Majumdar with Civil lines police station.”
Station House Officer Civil lines RS Sahu informed that the complainant told the police that Tapas Kumar Majumdar had told her that he had taken divorce from his first wife and only after that married with the complainant.
later on, the complainant came to know that Majumdar had not divorced his first wife. “Presently Majumdar is posted in Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. The duo got married while Majumdar was posted in Jabalpur,” said SHO and added that a case under Sections 376, 419, 496 and other sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) which reads rape, cheating by personation, Marriage ceremony performed fraudulently, has been registered against the accused.
