Replying to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s remark that the Congress party was ‘a sinking ship’, the Chhattisgarh unit of the Congress party on Sunday reacted by issuing a statement that the former had failed in bearing his official responsibilities.

The Congress leaders also alleged of rampant corruption and favouritism in tender floated by the State Excise Department for preparation of hologram stickers pasted on liquor bottles.

“Rajnath Singh before pointing fingers at anyone should look at his own party first by answering the questions raised by Sohan Potai who was four times Member of Parliament and BJP member who  has levelled serious charges on Chief Minister Raman Singh and the Union Home Minister should have answered those first,” Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel said while addressing a press conference here at the party’s State headquarters ‘Congress Bhawan’.

“We all know how tribal leader Nand Kumar Sai was treated in Delhi and BJP is going to lose for sure in 2018 Assembly polls,” he claimed.

Referring to Civil Supplies scam in Chhattisgarh, he questioned that why had Union Government’s Department of Personnel & Training (DOPT) not given permission to prosecute officers allegedly involved in the scam so farIJ

“Rajnath Singh has also failed on tackling Naxal menace. After he came to power, the uniforms of martyred jawans was dishonoured in Raipur, journalists were arrested in Bastar, Tribal people are killed in fake encounter and gang rapes are happening in Bastar,” he alleged.

Congress legislator Satyanarayan Sharma claimed that two companies had qualified for the hologram tender floated by the Excise Dept. “Both the companies are closely associated and even their officials are same. The tender required bank guarantee of ` 1.50 crore along with earnest money of ` 20 lakh,” Sharma said and alleged that such clause was created to prevent other smaller companies from taking part in the tender.
