Raman slams Cong for mocking farmers

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh on Sunday made a veiled attack on former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Charandas Mahant, and slammed him for mocking farmers in a recent statement.

Addressing the BJP state working committee meet on Sunday, Singh said that one of the former ministers of Congress had termed the farmers of the state ‘alcoholic’. And it is really mockery of the practice of politics.  Commenting on Rs 2100 crore bonus amount distributed to the farmers by the State Government this month, Mahant had reportedly said that the farmers of the state will probably use the bonus amount for consuming alcohol because they are highly addicted to it and they have made it part and parcel of their lives.

And they cannot live without its consumption.

“Surprising comments are received from the Congress leaders and the statement of them shows the Congress’s view over the farmers of the state”, Raman said, adding, Rs Rs they (Congress leaders) only treat the farmers of state as a vote bank and had nothing to do with their plight,’’

He also said that after taking their votes in election, these leaders do not visit their houses and leave them on their destiny. and the same leaders make lofty speeches.
