Raman Singh pulls up govt over human trafficking

Published on:

Former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh pulled up the government on Wednesday for providing erroneous information on human trafficking case in the state on his query on the third day of the Assembly's winter session.

Home Minister Tamradhwaj Sahu said the government will undertake all necessary steps to constitute Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTU) in remaining districts of the state. At     present the units are           functional in eight districts.

During Question Hour, Raman Singh sought details of the cases of human         trafficking in Rajnandgaon district and other areas in last two years, how many cases were reported and steps taken against it.

Sahu provided the details.

Raman Singh argued    that information given            in the Assembly was          erroneous as the Kawardha data says "nil" when incidents have been reported and   police have arrested the accused. Will the officials be pulled up for misleading the House?

Not satisfied with the Minister's reply, Raman Singh said the issue needs coordinated efforts of Home and Women and Child Welfare departments.
