Raman set to tone up bureaucracy

With the new Council of Ministers in place, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh is all set to go for a major bureaucratic surgery very soon, top sources claimed on Thursday.

Additional chief secretaries, principal secretaries and secretaries ranked officers could be affected by the reshuffle. Sources said the reshuffle could take place within a week.

Highly placed sources said the department of additional chief secretary NK Aswal, who has been holding the responsibility of the home affairs for a long time, could be reshuffled. Aswal is also holding several other departments including jail, transport, and water resources.

With the IFS and IPS level officers now brought under the general administration department, there could be some changes in their current postings as well.

The Chief Minister is also likely to consider the choice of different Ministers. Some Ministers have reportedly shortlisted the officers of their choice and already recommended their names for their respective departments.

The secretary level officers whose departments could be changed include Ganesh Shankar Mishra, Vikasheel, KR Pisda and Bl Agrawal. Similarly, there could be new appointments in boards and corporations.

Sources said plans are afoot to change some district Collectors and Superintendent of Police. The Government needs to seek permissions for such reshuffle from the Election Commission as work for the 2014 General election was underway.
