Chief Minister Raman Singh on Saturday instructed officials concerned to ensure that construction of toilets in all the schools, colleges and Aanganbadi centers in State should be completed by third week of June month, so that the target of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Clean India Campaign can be completed on time. Singh further said that officials concerned should compulsorily ensure allotment of books to all the schools for free distribution to students, minimum eight days before the opening day i.e. by the first week of June.
He instructed Panchayat Representatives to regularly monitor the works to be done for achieving both the goals on time. Chief Minister gave aforementioned instructions, while addressing newly-elected officials and members of Janpad Panchayats Chhuikhadan and Khairagarh, at ‘Jandarshan’ room of his residence in capital city Raipur. Delegation of both the Janpad Panchayats, led by lok Sabha Member Abhishek Singh, paid courtesy call on Chief Minister.
Singh congratulated newly-elected Panchayat representatives and appealed them to actively participate in lok Suraaj Abhiyaan — a month-long event of State Government, which is going to commence from April 13. Singh said that on the lines of Gram Suraaj and Nagar Suraaj Abhiyans, State Government has decided to organise lok Suraaj Abhiyaan, which will be conducted simultaneously in both rural and urban areas.
Under this event, group of 15-20 villages will be identified in every district, and a public grievance redressal camp will be organised at the biggest village of that group. In this way, large number of public grievance redressal camps will be organised in all 27 districts of the State during lok Suraaj Abhiyaan, wherein various grievances of people will be redressed as soon as possible.
Chief Minister said that Panchayat representatives have important role in implementation of public welfare schemes and development of villages. In the three-tier Panchayat Raj institutions, Gram Panchayat is the working agency for construction works. But responsibility of monitoring progress of construction works is on Janpad Panchayats and Zila Panchayats.
Singh said that under the schemes of Central Government and State Government, large amount of funds are being sanctioned to Panchayats for development works. Funds are also sanctioned by Surguja and Bastar Tribal Development Authority and Scheduled Caste Development Authority, constituted by State Government. He requested the panchayat officials to thoroughly study about Government schemes and related rules and procedures.
