By criticising the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre over the Maoist violence in Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Raman Singh has been hiding his own failure, the Congress alleged here on Monday.

In a joint statement the party State unit Chief Bhupesh Baghel and leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, T.S.Singh Deo, said the central government has deployed highest number of Central Reserve Police Force personals in the State to tackle the Naxal menace.

Whenever the State Government asked for any help be it modern arms and weapons or choppers, the central government provided it to the State immediately, they said.

“The States like Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal have managed to check the Naxal activities to a great extent despite having less paramilitary force personals,” the Congress duo said in a statement. “Why did the Naxal activities increased in Chhattisgarh under the Bharatiya Janata party regime, when the State Government has all the necessary supportIJ” they asked.

Accusing the Raman Singh Government of not having proper intention to deal with the problem, the leaders said during the last ten years, the Raman Singh Government even failed to come with a concrete policy on Naxals.

Singh should make it clear the stand of his Government on military, financial, political and social policy to control the Naxal manace, they said.

The Chief Minister should also disclose about the help asked from the centre and the central government also the details about the helps provided by the Centre.

Singh should also clarify, why he opposed when the central government proposed to establish to the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC)IJ, the Congress leaders stated.

The leaders also demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister, why his Government failed to spend the funds properly allocated for the development of Maoist infested Bastar region.

He should also explain, why people in Bastar region are still deprived of basic facilities like road, electricity, water, education, hospital, said the Congress leaders and party spokesman Sushil Anand Shukla.
