The Rajnandgaon district has got top national award for implementation of Central Government’s rural job scheme.
The ministry of rural development announced the leadership award for the district for implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MGREGA).The award would be handed over to the district in the MGREGA anniversary function at New Delhi on February 2. launched in 2006, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme guarantees 100 days of employment in a financial year to a rural household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work.District collector and district MGREGA programme coordinator Ashok Agrawal said in the last fiscal year the district has managed to provide at least 29,367 families 100 day work each.
