Under provisions of Chhattisgarh Panchayat Raj Act, the reservation process for Zila Panchayat chairman post in 27 districts for three-tier panchayat general election 2019-20 was conducted at local new circuit house conference hall on Monday. Raipur Zila Panchayat has been reserved for general woman category.
The lottery was done in presence of Deputy Secretary cum Director Panchayat and rural development department Jitendra Kumar Shukla and public representatives.
As per the process, 13 seats have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes, 3 for Scheduled caste, seven for OBC and four districts for general category candidates. The reservation has been done on the basis of 2011 Census.
The Scheduled Tribes reserved seats are Dantewada, Sukma, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Kanker, Kondagaon, Bastar, Sarguja, Balrampur, Koriya, Korba and Jashpsur. The Scheduled Caste reserved seats are Balod, Kabirdham and Dhamtari while Rajnandgaon, Mahasamund, Bemetara, Janjgir-Champa, Raigarh, Balodabazaar-Bhatapara and Durg for Other Backward Category. Raipur, Mungeli, Bilaspur and Gariyaband districts chairman will be from unreserved category (general).
The woman reserved seats for ST are Dantewada, Narayanpur, Sarguja, Balrampur, Koriya, Korba and Jashpur while SC woman the districts of Dhamtari and Kabirdham have been reserved while for OBC category woman the seats of Rajnandgaon, Bemetara, Mahasamund and Durg have been reserved.
Similarly, for general category woman, Raipur and Mungeli have been reserved through the lottery system.
