Raipur under Covid-19 Red Zone in Centre's revised list

Capital city Raipur will now be under ‘Red Zone’ and Korba in ‘Orange’ as decided by the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare (MHFW) in its revised list.

The list was prepared by the Centre after taking feedback from Chief Secretaries of states to contain Covid-19.

As per the revised list effective from May 4, there are 130 Red Zones, 284 Orange Zones and 319 Green Zones across the country. According to the Union Ministry for Home Affairs, the list is revised by MHFW weekly or earlier in order to issue instructions regarding the pandemic's containment.

In Chhattisgarh, apart from Raipur and Korba, the other 25 districts have been in Green Zone.

Issuing the revised list, the Centre has said that necessary action should be initiated in Red Zones as part of a containment action plan. These include stringent perimeter control, active search for cases, testing of all cases, contact tracing and clinical management of all confirmed cases.

“It is critical to ensure that necessary action for containment so as to break the chain of transmission of virus is initiated in both Red and Orange zone districts reporting confirmed cases,” the Union Health Ministry order said.

In urban districts, containment zones will be demarcated on the basis of residential colony, mohallas, municipal wards, police station area, municipal zones or towns. In rural areas, these zones will be based on villages, clusters of villages and gram panchayats among others, the Health Ministry said.
