The Raipur division under South East Central Railway (SECR) zone has turned out to be the most punctual division in running trains during August 2016, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Raipur, Rahul Gautam claimed here on Friday.
“By running 99.67 percent trains on time, Raipur division has earned first place among 69 railway divisions across country, for the month of August this year,” DRM Rahul Gautam said while addressing a press conference.
After Raipur, Mysore division with 99.36 per cent trains on time and Ranchi division with 99.33 percent train running on time stood at second and third positions respectively, he informed.
He said that elaborate programs were held in Raipur division under the ‘Swachch Rail, Swachh Bharat’ drive observed from September 17 to 25.
“During this nine days cleanliness drive, the division officials had worked on separate themes for each day. At least 22 senior officials themselves conducted sanitation inspections at A-1 and A class stations under the division between September 17 and 23,” the DRM said.
Besides, 115 other officials examined efforts under the campaign in other stations, he added.
Fine of Rs 51,000 was collected from people travelling in train and station premises, who were caught in littering activities, he said while adding that representative of several NGOs, scouts-guides, rail unions and religious institutions contributed significantly towards making the cleanliness week success.
Meanwhile, the DRM also revealed about the facilities to be provided to passengers under the division including Wi-Fi at Durg station, elevators and escalators at Raipur and Durg stations and expansion of ATVM (Automatic Ticket Vending Machine).
